Replacement horns 1 Year, 2 Months ago
Hey guys, My last thing to do on my checklist it to get better horns for the bike. Originals work but aren't loud enough. Anybody have any suggestions on what to get. I want to stay close to original shape & mounting style as I'll put the new ones in the same place. I'd like them to be chrome & louder than 100db. I've looked at J & P Cycles & Dennis Kirk but don't really see anything that tripps my trigger. Are the 3" universal 105db horns worth getting? I know they're not the most expensive but I don't want to spend a fortune on them.

Thanks in advance for any info!

I went with a Royal Star horn in chrome. You can see how it fits/looks in the larger image (link).

It's a bit louder. Fits right were the Road Star horn fit. And, it's chrome...

I think I found it on Ebay for $10.00 or so.

This is what I have. It's a lot louder than stock at 115 dB but not as loud as a Stebel at 139 dB. But since you want something that looks stock, these might be it. The chrome is peeling, but the Stebels peel too.

My bike had no horns on it when I got it. Didnt want to spend $40.00 for 1 new one so went to Carquest and bought a universal for about $16.00. It is slightly larger than the stock but it can be heard in street traffic by cages. Cant tell you how much louder than stock it is. They do have a low and a high tone so you could replace both, but it would take modifying the stock bracket or making your own with the bracktet that comes in the horn package, thats what I did.

I got a chrome Wolo Bad Boy airhorn, 118db, Harbor Freight, less than $40. It doesn't look stock, but DOES fit where the front stock horn is mounted. It's loud, which is exactly why I got it, and looks great too.
