Okay, I just have to point this out....

This is definately a man's garage:
~ in addition to the nice V-Star 650 I see at least a half dozen "toys" in that garage. Beyond the Hover-Round chair, cool toy trike, RC car, boat and bicycle - I'm sure there's at least a skate board, wagon, and possibly a riding lawn mower!

Congrats on getting one step closer.
Saw the bike you are watching on Ebay, and I do not know what your budget is, but take a look at this one,
http://www.jandjcycle.com/new_vehicle_detail.asp?sid=03573419X2K24K2012J11I26I07JAMQ1503R0&veh=38317&pov=2334963 this is a 2007 with only 200 miles on it. I saw your post then went to the web site of the place I bought mi Roadstar from, and they have a lot of bikes at great prices. I bought my 2006 RS brand new in 2008 for 7900.00. My cousin and I each bought one so the trip to Ohio was well worth it for us. These guys move hundreds of bikes at low mark up. They do a great volume and keep the prices cheap. Check them out.

I would suggest that you:

1. Have someone local to the bike check it out.

2. Have good communication with whoever the shipper is. Make sure they have a good reputation and they have good insurance. What deductible is your part on the insurance. Sometimes it might take a couple weeks for them to pick the bike up. Make sure there are no storage fees until the bike is picked up. Some of them need a loading dock to load the bike. Will the seller help by working with you and the shipper for no additional charge?

More than likely you can find a good deal locally, just have to take your time to find that deal. Local newspapers, craigslist, cycletrader.com are all good sources to find one closer.

Have you looked at anything besides the vstar's? Another bike I would suggest looking at is the Honda 750 Ace. It is the bike that my daughter started out with and she prefered it over the vstars.

I am not trying to discourage you from the one on ebay that you are looking at, just giving you things to think about. Someone here posted they found a sidecar unit in WA state at a HD dealership. Luckily for me, they had looked the unit over, and the dealership helped me on working with the shipper. I went with the best shipper in the business in my opinion becuase I could not find any complaints on them and their insurance smoked everyone elses with a 0 deductible in case something happened.

That looks like a great deal, as long as it runs, should not be hard to keep running.
