Its pretty well known that the Mrs and I do alot of travelling on the bike. Other than the Colorado mountains ( which I am fortunate enough to live in) I LOVE riding in the open area of TN and NC. I have yet to hit Oregon and northern Cali but thats where I wanna check out next.

So Fav Place: Colo mountains, TN and NC
Place I wanna go that I aint been to yet: Oregon and northern Cali

I've driven over a lot of New Mexico in a van. The thread a few days ago regarding the get together at Red River, reminded me of just how pretty many of the places I saw there, were.
I think if I was going to go somewhere on a scooter, it'd be there.
I always told people that I'd visited and camped in the Rockies as a kid, and the mountains in NM were maybe a bit less awe inspiring, but definitely more personal.

We're going to take the bikes up to the Hamptons this Summer.

Should be a cool place to ride around and take photos.

I live in Nor Cal and there are butt-loads of *amazing* rides around here. If you're serious about making it out this way, I'd honestly give yourself at least a week or more if you can manage it. When the time comes, let me know and I'd be glad to set you up with some great rides. Hwy 1 is a must!... Ahh I long for warm days... Which brings up another good point, DON'T come in the summer! Summer here sucks! COLD and FOGGY! All the tourist make that mistake... best time is around Sept. Plus as a bonus, all the tourists are gone by then so less traffic and cheaper rates in the hotels. Oregon coast is another amazing place... If everyone has their own version of heaven, mine would include parts of the Oregon coast.

I was raised in Baytown,Tx. and it was only 45 miles north of Galveston,Tx.
I use to hit Hi-way 146 south and run on down to there, then go west on the sea wall and pay the toll, and go south all the way to Surf side,
then head north and then hit I-35 south all the way to Corpus Christi,Tx.
Man,I miss Texas, lots of wide open roads.
I got the o.k. from the wife to take the Road* on a trip this year, going to go from MO. to Killeen,Tx. to see our son, then run down to Baytown,tx. to see my mom and dad,and two brothers.
The only thing is I only got nine day to do it all in,and that is one hell of a haul.
the wife thinks I can drive down there in a day. I asked her if she was tripping?

it'll take you a day and half to Corpus Christi. Takes me a full day to San Antonio from Manhattan, KS.

The Colorado Rockies are great. Like you I also live there so they are an easy day ride. But I gotta go with the great PCH Highway 1. As a kid I would ride from LA up past Frisco 3 or 4 times a Summer. Although highway 395 is real nice too.
