Re:Maintenance Rant. 1 Year, 1 Month ago
The Jack is on sale at Harbor Freight, I think it was 179 bucks. I was mad I did not buy the J&S jack, Fine jack it is, but after I bought this one, I was happy I missed out on the J&S. Someone asked how high it goes, I think 28 inches? Real close to that. I put the waste basket under there to show height.

I am so serious it is a great jack. One thing though, it is either up or down, You don't trust they hydrualics for anywhere in between, You pump it all the way up and put in a pin and it rests on that for weeks. Then a few pumps, pull pin and let it down slow. A must for detailing!

I had the bike on the ground putting the exhaust on, PITA so I jacked it back up and on in a heartbeat. What a way to inspect a bike.

I have to upload pictures for the two hot to's Alignment tool worked out so great, dead on easily. Cost is like zero, same cost on the cable luber.

Ok someone asked me about teh Reckless fairing.
I was not real happy with wind blockage compared to Stock and MS Batwing. BUT> It is fixed.
Here is Prescription.
1st Install Progressive Springs, I did stock height and it lowered it a tad.
That smooths out the bumps and gets vibration to minimum.
2nd While you have all that off,
You might as well do the steering head bearings if you think it needs done.
But the DT RISERS is the important part.
The DT risers get the clearence you need between the fairing and the radio. This allows you to drop the fairing to the lowest hole available on the mounting plates Reckless provides. It CLOSES a gap between the headlamp and the fairing that wind used to rush under.
3rd, And this might get Curt Mad and eat into his riding time. But order a set of Curts lowers.
This almost turns the bike into a Gold Wing wind wise. 110% Happy here!
NOW you can order up that Reckless, Now that you have the recipe. I went for a ride today in heavy heavy wind gust and it handled just as good as Stock WS and HD lowers. But I would never use HD lowers in place of Curts lowers, They crack at the bolt holes.

So there you all have it. IMHO.

I guess the real Key with the Reckless is the DT risers, to get it down to the lowest hole and closer to the light. But I would do as I suggested if you have the Money.

I bought the same jack a month ago and really love it. the bike is real stable on it. When I only raise it 18" or so, I stacked a couple concrete blocks below it and lowered the jack legs onto them to take some pressure off the hydraulics........
