I came across this and thought some of you might appreciate it.
It's a video of the Isle of Mann TT, shot from a helicopter, making for some breath taking sites. Its best watched in full screen mode.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbaO8mzByvw&feature=player_embedded
For those who aren't familiar, the "TT" for Tourist Trophy, is an annual event held on the Isle of Mann, a small island between England and Ireland where there are no speed limits. Every year, they close the roads and riders come from all over the world to compete for the best times.
Watching it, you can almost imagine what it must be like to be the rider. These bikes respond with an almost telepathic like connection between rider and machine, acting like an extension of the rider's body. At those speeds, the synapses in your brain are firing at such extraordinary rates, that it gives you a heightened sense of awareness and the perception that time slows down. When in fact, according to Einstein, it does.
Enjoy!

The world breaks everyone, and afterward, *some* are strong at the broken places.

One of the most under-rated events in all of motor sports in my opinion.

Whether it was this place/race or somewhere else, I saw a youtube link.....it happens when you start with one and just keep going
anyway, the rider lost control.
He was rolling on the throttle at the time on a straight, and the front wheel was up a tad. He hit some bales of hay, and he and the bike separated. The rider flew across and down the road, 100 plus feet. I lost track of him in the vid, he was just debris in the air. He had to of been ten feet in the air at the top of the arc.
A tribute to wearing the proper gear if ever there was one. He survived with a bruised lung.
That was fun to watch. Thanks Doc.

Unfortunately, due to the structres, walls, and hedges being so close to the road, both on the Island and in Ireland (ROAD RACE series), many have lost thier lives competing at the TT. It is an unfortunate reality of the races, but it does not stop racers from coming.

Think about this: AVERAGE superbike class speed around the entire course is ove 130MPH now when it is dry.
