Names I have not heard in years.
I owned a 750 Ducati Desmo head back in the mid 70s.
The handling was impeccable and the power was amazing. But the desmo head required valve adjustments every time you rode around the block. That meant hours fitting tiny shims into upside down buckets on the cam followers. Actually, I dd it so often I got to the point I could get it done in a few hours.
A friend at the time had one of the Benelli 650s and a Laverda triple, a 750 IIRC.
Italian bikes are like Italian cars. High maintenance but thrilling when they are right.

When Al Quada hits us again, just remember; DHS was busy watching me.

That is a cool link. Thanks for that. I used to have a Kawasaki Mach 111 which is on there. That bike was fast but it was all over the road. Chassis just plain ol' sucked.

I freaked out a couple of older riders who thought for some reason that Kawi triples were "on par" with modern bikes for performance. I let them ride my SV650! They soon realized that what they were riding was fast for the day, but not this one! Not to mention, the first time you ride a bike with radials (one that was designed for them) you get a taste of what handling really can be!

I worked a Benelli 500 single a couple of years ago, my only emperience with and Italian bike, Vespas not included. Of course anything you are not used to seems quirky, but no more than anything else non-Japanese I've worked on.
