John, glad your alright! The scars on your bike can be repaired and so can the scars on your pride. Yes you will miss some riding days but the alternative could have been end of days! The people here will help you on both problems. Rest, create a plan for repairs and hang out here !!!

Also glad you're in one piece. Besides being a treasure trove of info lot's of members have extra parts laying around just waiting for (unfortunate) situations like this. Good luck and keep us informed.

I hit a deer with a car once and totaled it. I was only going about 35mph. I can't imagine hitting one on the bike at 60. I'm glad you're ok, your guardian angel was definitley riding with you today.

Hi Gram, I am not in CA, but used to be up until '95; now I am in Nebraska. I agree that the rebuild will be kind of fun, but I know I am going to miss riding it alot. I had been using it almost daily for the work commute. I will keep you and all up to date as things progress. Thanks to everyone for the support. You're awesome!

Glad you're okay, jahlers!

Be happy that you're not riding in my neck of the woods -- elephants and water buffaloes!

Really great to hear you made it through as well as you did. You'll ride again. As others mentioned you may even be able to experience the joy of rebuilding.

Again, glad you are OK.
