Ok... I am going darkside... I am ordering the tire this week... what I need to know is, does anyone here have the 175r16 and air ride... I need to know if the tire will hit the subframe all the way down ... if so, what needs to be clearances so that it wont hit the tire and cause damage.... any help is appreciated...

I'm assuming you have read through the owner's data on the Dark Side Forum? Most of the entries are very thorough, and I'm sure someone over there is running air ride with a DS tire. Just go by the tire size and look at all the RS guys' data.
At least that's what I'd do if none of my Clinic Bros chimes in quickly!

Yes I have and no there is not anyone over there with air ride... that's why im asking here.... I think MS1700 has that setup and im hoping he will chime in...

I dont think he has air ride  however I swear I seen bigflip take a pic of just the subfender on when he did the rear wheel swap. I will give you a good idea of the space left over with the stock size wheel on the bike at least, best I can do. Let me see if I can find the old thread for ya

sorry tony it wasnt bigflip, hoblick, or mine, cant find deekers thread to see what if any pics he posted and i cant think of who else did the switch wih airride-aftermarket wheels and stock mounting style fender  i will keep pondering though it may come to me i do remember the pic i seen i was suprised at how much room was still left. know what? just this second i remembered.. darns shock mount broke on his roadie and he wore off a big chunk of his tire life when it started to rub on his subframe. ask him if it may have had anything to do with his trailor hitch mount. best i can do for now,sorry. |

Tony, I dont think its overall diameter that will be the issue, I believe we will have to watch overall with. with the sides of the sub frame.
I believe when darn had the issue, it was with is hitch down at the bottom of the frame, whickh your going to have to watch when you do the install.
Glad you getting all the bugs worked out before we do mine. lol

I used that exact tire but unfortunatley I don't have any experiance with the air ride suspension. Hope someone can get you the info. When you do get it installed I know you will enjoy the ride, handling and longevity. Good luck!
