Just for starters to see if it is the cooler temps just turn the PMS out 1/8 to 1/4 turn and see if it helps. If it makes a difference then you can tweak it.

Curt,

Great info, I appreciate it. I'll give it a shot and see how it preforms.

Thanks!

ravioli noted that he had a speedstar stage 2 installed at the dealer.

the speedstar kit comes with a #50 and #60 pilot jets.

wouldn't that have a effect...

Well, if the pilots are a 50 and a 60, and they are "measured" the same way as a stock 35, then yes, that would be an issue. Some co.'s mark their jets different than others (Dynojet for instance) but if he doubled the amount of fuel being received on the pilot circuit, that would be Monster Rich! I could not confirm the jet sizes through the catalog, but if that's the case, and Ravioli is using one of these, it could explain his recent problem. How's that for a long winded YES. BB

I HAVE ONE OF THESE SPEEDSTAR KITS IT HAS--

1 NEEDLE WITH 6 POSITIONS ( SIMILAR IN SHAPE TO DYNA NEEDLE )
1 E CLIP
1 WASHER
1 PLASTIC SPACER
4 MIKUNI MAIN JETS 165,170,175,180
2 MIKUNI PILOT JETS 50,60

DON'T KNOW WHY IT HAS A 165 MAIN JET WHEN THAT IS STOCK IN THE 1600 BUT IT DOES...

I ALSO KNOW WHEN I USED THE #50 PILOT HAD TROUBLE TUNING THE PMS...

Cold air is more dense. More dense means more air going into the carb. More air going into the carb means lean. That's my story and I'm stickin to it. Until someone proves me wrong that is. Then I'll change it.
