I have always been apprehensive about buying anything online. Moderator Posts: 2051 Re:Helmet shopping 4 Years, 3 Months ago   What I learned in the MSF course was that ALL DOT rated helmets are about the same with regard to the level of protection offered. According to the class, the main differences in a $75 helmet and a $400 helmet(both DOT rated) as more to do with the weight of the helmet than anything. e.g., lighter = more expensive. There's also the level of decoration you want on the lid and whether you want a full 1/2, 3/4, full coverage or a modular helmet which can also contribute to pricing. I think it all comes down to personal preference. You can look at a few reviews on helmets from this site http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-helmets/motorcycle-helmets.htm for a pro/con kind of review on helmets.
