Came across this topic and couldn't resist...

At the risk of (carbon) dating my self... It was the summer of '66, I was 15 and my dad bought me a Honda "fifty" to get back and forth to work with... (He was tired of spending extra for his gas to get me there...)

As soon as I got that "scooter", I quit my bus-boy job and went to work at the "Sinclair" gas station in town... After all, who could afford to keep throwing a gallon and a half of gas into that thing, every other day... and at 19 cents per!?! Heck, I needed 20 cents for a pack of smokes!

Minimum wage was 32 cents an hour and I got a nickle for every quart of oil I could sell... Half a quart low... "Uh, sir... You need a quart!"

(Oh and because I was the "Night shift" guy... I had to clean and refill the oil jars.)

But, at the end of the day... that .009 cents per gallon? I've got gas for the ride home tonight!!!
