I'm with you guys. On my 06 R* all summer, I felt as though I had to ride at 60-65 to keep from lugging it in 5th. Get between 50 and 55 and I always felt like I needed to downshift. What you ride is definatly a personal thing, but I really don't know what I would do with 200 more cc's (and just for the record, I scale in at about 270 Lbs).

I agree with the previous post, at 50-55 it feels like you have to downshift back to 4th gear at times, you have to keep it at 60+ to ride 5th gear, this engine is not made for slower speeds because it wants to lug on you and it is not made for that, I know I feel it when riding. I have never gone over 70-75mph with the bike because I have no need to go that fast on a bike, the bike is made for cruising.

My Yamaha dealer is very good. He gives me his bike to ride when I drop my R* off for service. He has a 2007 Roadliner s with lots of goodies on it. I put on 400 kms. Loved the power, sound, centre of gravity, and looks. Hated the ergonomics, worse seat ever, and the AIS sounds like a bird chirping away. If they can make it a lot more comfortable it might be my next new bike.

I have decided to keep my Roadstar, it is paid for, only 1400 miles, as some others said, we have more accessories for these bikes, bigger gas tank, better set up on bike, cheaper to own, besides I have my bike dressed up like I want and do not want to start over. I need to stop looking at other bikes, I guess I am no different than anybody else. I am staying with my bike and will be here on the Clinic.
Thanks for the Input Guys.

Re:Roadliner / Stratoliner 4 Years, 3 Months ago
i had a ride on a roadliner last year.

VERY nice bike, goes well, handles well, brakes well, better suited to my lanky frame than a standard roadie.

BUT.......

the styling is a bit...er...unique? didnīt like the aesthetics much.

the only other criticism is that (and iīm gonna sound like a harley owner now ) the motor is a bit sanitary. it buzzes more than thumps, and is just TOO smooth for a 1900 v-twin. with a roadie, you KNOW something is happening, but with the roadliner i felt...sort of detatched from the motor.

itīs a brilliant machine, no question, but for my part iīll stick with a roadie.

A lot to do with EFI...

The 2008 R* will be sanitizes with EFI...

Harley riders complain that EFI has changed the sound of the HD as well

Is there any chance your gearing was changed with a different pulley by a previous owner or are you the original owner? The R* will run all day at 85-90 with the stock gearing without raising a sweat!!

As far as any gear changes or pulley changes I am not sure anything has been changed on the bike, I bought the bike 6 month ago from the original owner with 515 miles for $6700.00 and it was stock when I got it. When I am riding it just seems like it needs another gear or maybe it just me, I never pushed it past 70-75, I have no issues or problems with it at all like I said maybe it is all in my head. I do not have a tach on the bike so I do not know what I am turning. I love the Bike, I bought it because of the price, color, features, layout of the bike, everything about it. She pulls like a mule and rides great.
