1000 lb Shock 9 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Money is pretty tight these days or bike money is and I'm trying to decide on some new double d long shots or a thousand pound shock. I weigh about 240 and when I take the wifey somewhere the stock shock isn't what I would like it to be. Please don't ask what the wifey weighs because I don't know but it's a lot less than me. Was wondering if any of you guys have one and how you like it.

Shock .... need to keep wifey happy.

You'll find a big difference with shock upgrade.

LOL Thanks for the reply Doc. I pretty much figured that it would prevent the frequent botteming out but how does it affect the handling? My bike is a 99 model and when I go somewhere such as Branson with my friends, I always rub the foot boards a few times while they breeze right on through the curves.

Go for a "Progressive spring" it rides nice 1 up and progressivally (a word??) gets stiffer as you add weight so you always have a good ride. My wife and I are VERY happy with mine.
If you are riding right on the curves you should ALWAYS scrape

Yeah, I agree with everyone else...do the spring. And BB is right on the scraping. Just finished a ride in Highlands, NC and left about 8 oz. of footboard on the twisties up there.

I got the 850 - 1200lb progressive spring and am as happy as a pig in sh*t.

The big test was when I took the 16 year old big boy out on the back and we did the twisties.

Only scrapped the frame once.

Should have done it alot earlier.

Is there a procedure here on the forum for replacing the spring?
