but I'd rather not involve my insurance co. I don't want it to go up! No tickets were written and in TX, if no one is injured then no report is written. Do you think I'd still be ok contacting their insurance only?

Yeah, I'm not sure how things are different in TX than here in TN. I didn't mean for you to make a claim with your insurance company, just let them know what is going on so they can offer any advice or direction. Your premiums won't go up for just seeking their advise, only if they were handling the claim. You are wanting to make a claim with the guilty parties insurance, you're just using your insurance companies knowledge of the industry. Are you as confused as me now?

Good Luck! Sure it'll be fine as long as you know what your bike is worth, what it'll take to fix it, and that they aren't gonna pay you unless you made 'em!

WooHooooo!!! the adjuster left and cut me a check. I was really worried about hassle from their insurance company. Now I just need to start ordering replacement parts.

Thanks to everyone for their help & advice.

Good news! So, they gave you what you needed? Glad to hear things worked out. Now you get the fun part of spending that money on some custom goodies. I'd definitely have the rearend looked at closely (hubs, swingarm, rim, etc.), make sure everything is 100% safe. It doesn't take a whole lot from a car to knock things out whack.
