I am way surprised this guy didn't go down!!!! Deer are fairly big four-legged creatures and I've heard stories about riders being hurt badly. I don't know whether it was luck or rider skill, but either way he is a lucky guy!

The only thing that saved him is that the deer was low to the ground when he hit him. The highways are full of deer where I live and theres usually at least one person killed every year on their bike and last year there were two. I try not to do any riding on two lane highways at night around here. I've got my running lights angled towards the ditches and I'm often amazed at how many deer that I see that I otherwise wouldn't when roadsides are four or five feet below the highway. On my way home from a thirty mile trip to watch my daughter's softball game, I saw three or four "small herds" in the low ditches on the side of the road. The car in front of me never even slowed down, and the deer never moved when we passed but they were only one hop from jumping right in the highway.

Anyone tried the electronic deer whistle from Kuryakyn? My wife bought it for me for X-mas, but I haven't installed it yet. We have alot of deer in our area too!
I have a buddy who has two of them on his bike and he seems to think a lot of them but in my opinion, the problem with deer isn't that they can't hear you coming. He says his is the same kind that the state troopers use and that statistics have shown that they work.
LOL, So far my little bell has worked. When people ask me what it's for, I tell them "it's my good luch charm".

The first day I had my Roadie I was riding it home in the evening and a deer jumped out in front of me and I hit it. Fortunately, I was going slow enough that I saw him coming and was able to turn into him and force him away from me, but not before he left some skin on my forks and bent the heck out of my reflector. Scared the crap out of me too. I'm not sure how I maintained my balance. I was very lucky I didn't go down, I think the angels were watching over me. We have a lot of deer where I live and they are almost always along the road and if the deer don't get ya the tourists stopping to look at them will, I'm not sure which is more dangerous.
