Chilhowee windshield bag...which one??? 9 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Is anyone using the Chilhowee windshield bags on their R* Silverado? From looking at the two styles (of studded) that they offer, I notice that one specifically says "metric" and the other doesn't. It appears that the difference is where the mounting bracket is located on the back of the bag. for the "metric" one its located lower and for the other one its mounted about in the middle from top to bottom.

If anyone is using these could you please let me know which one to go with? It seems by common sense that the "non-metric" one would be the most solid as its not mounted towards the bottom.

I have several of their products but I dont have the windshield bag...

Excellent products.....curious the the fitment list for both is the same

Sorry I cant help

Maybe the only difference is the placement of the bracket for whatever reason and you could use the non metric one...

Give Chilhowee a call ..they are good people:

Hard for me to tell, but I see a problem with you trying to get the nut on and attached.

I have the OEM version of this from Yami, and it looks to be the exact same thing... to me anyway.

I must say, It was a frustrating experience to get it on the wndshield because of the curve of the windshield and the lack of curve in the bag... compounded by the shortness of the windshield bolts.

The difference between the yami and yours... that I can see right off, is that the yami has the attachment tabs coming down...extending about an inch of so; this allows you to get the head of that nut on the windshield bolt easier with the yami... IMO. From what I can tell, your bag might have the windshield bolts screwing directly into the bag mounts... it that right? Otherwise, how would you get to the bold without a hassle.

One thing though, I love the look of mine... and the one you have linked to looks just as nice.

thanks lakecharles. I may just go with the Yami version then. I'm sentimental I guess in that I like to support "the small businessman" when I can. I haven't seen either in person and am only going off the reputation of Chilhowee. I think I'll still order the lever covers though from them.

I have the Yami non-studded bag on my windshield, and the OEM bolts are just barely enough to cinch the two tabs on tight. Very useful.

Well I called and asked questions. got a very nice lady who actually said her hubby rides a R* too. She explained that yes we need to order the "metric" one. The difference b/t that and the other one is the location of the mounting bracket. Personally I'd rather the bag sit a little lower and go b/t the handlebar clamp and the silver piece on the windshield but I didn't want to risk it not fitting in that space. So in the end I ordered the metric one.
