Not too many VRNs (Vapor Recovery Nozzels) down here... BUT...
What I would like to see is something that lets me fill the tank to within a half inch from the top of the neck...
Yeah, I know I shouldn't fill it that much, but, I slways seem to top it off and ride another ten, or so, miles and when I do park it... It's just "full"...
With todays prices, I usually get another dollar and a half in it once the level hits the bottom of the neck... and then I'm trying to find that "sweet spot" on the pump that lets me trickle that last dollar and a half...
Anyone seen anything like that?
Even if it stopped those little splash droplets it would be handy...

ok guys....banging away in a gas tank with ordinary tools (non-sparking tools) is NOT a good idea. although I can see the logic. Yamaha must have that air space in there for a reason though. right??? guessing room for expansion?

If you're going to fill your tank right up to the top and park it I suppose it might cause some problems. Don't know why anyone would worry about filling it up to the last ounce just to park it though.

If you go using spark causing tools on a tank that's 1/4 gas and 3/4 fumes then you could get in to trouble. Just requires a little thought before you do it. I'm still here. And no trip to the burn ward needed.

But I just put it out there as an option. Entirely readers choice on doing it.

I learned long ago that you just don't use the first tool in the shed when you're working around gasoline...(this is coming from the "less than sharpest" tool in the shed!)
When and if I undertake this mod... it will be with a bronze awl and a hard plastic mallet...
and the tank will be completely drained and dry... (I'll more than likely be doing plugs and vales at that time too!

I used a phillips screwdriver and a 3 lb sledge cause they were the first tools in the garage

I never believed it before but, I was told that gas would not ignite with a match or sparks hitting it easily soooo on one of those slow days I took a bowl of gas out side and started lighting matches and throwing them in the gas NOT ONE ignited!! then being the curious type I got a grinder out and a piece of steal and ground away shooting sparks into the bowl of gas NO ignition!! Soooo then I grabbed the torch and finally lit that gas on fire and melted the plastic bowl started the asphalt on fire
Sooooo I wasn't tooo concerned about igniting my gas tank when doing this mod......
