StarCruiser06,
Rather then hi-jack another post.....
Are those direct beam or diffused. I was looking at some that are .3amps, single color and diffuse 180* but can't recall the brand. They run $35 per unit
Anyone else using 'parade lights' on their ride?

I used the LED strips from
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/B-LED-Side-Door-Strip-Lights-Infiniti-G35-Nissan-350Z_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1713Q2em153Q2el1262QQcategoryZ33713QQihZ025QQitemZ380009370898
$15 for the set.
In addition you can use any of the "pod" type. My son gave me a whole bag that he used years ago from building the see-throuh computers that light up on the inside. I used several of these to accent the back. Also went to radio shack and bought a fusable connection and put in a 3 amp fuse. I was using a .5 amp and it blew a couple of times.
Bottom line -- most anything will work. The strips are nice because they have very goos adhesive on the backing. No problems with moisture.
I wired in a very small slide switch and mounted it using doublesided tape to the under side of the frame beneath my seat...very easy access.

I'm wanting to add some lights too. I want red ones though. And I'm gonna need a lot of light! What lights are the best? The strips look inexpensive, but how well do they work? I would think I would need 3 or 4 pairs to do the job, and about 3 single pods too. One for my headlight. You put one inside and the eyes and mouth glow when the light is off, it looks awesome!

RED .... better check with the Highway Traffic Act (or whatever you call it there). Around here you can only have red as rear lights.

Also BLUE. My son got nailed for having his blue L.E.D.s on. They were shining on the engine and they got him for "illegal aux. lighting" because they were blue. $156.00 fine. But I think it was partially because he was driving w/ them on too, though you could only see them from the side.

Oh, right... I forgot to add that tidbit of information... check with the motor vehicle laws of your state... I would recommend going straight to you state statutes, because it's been my experience here in the late... uh, I mean the great state of Florida that there is as many "interpretations" of the blue and red light statues as there are LEOs... ( BTW: I'm a building official here and like I always tell my inspectors and plans examiners... ONLY READ THE BLACK PART OF THE PAGE!) Florida put two key phrases in their laws... "forward facing" and "directly visible"... I've been stopped once (and had a pleasant conversation... but, no ticket...) Silver_fox! Wow! $156... tough town!

Optix from autoZone (or your favorite aout parts supplier) are available in all the primary colors and in two formats... Red, blue, green and purple...(as well as clear... but, I'm not sure if that's a color... ) And, they come in 2" strips (3 LEDs) and 9" strips (7 LEDs) they also have 6 LED "pods" (it's a little puck about 1/2" X 1" the prices are $9, $19 and $15 for the puck... (all are 2 packs except the puck.) To light up a Star I would use three (packs) 2" Around the tank and engine, one 9" (one each under the fender stay) and a couple of pucks, to highlight the front headlight and lower engine chrome...
