I have never been. I wanted to try once in but could get my ears to clear. Instructor couldnt help me out. Its something I have always wanted to do. Not much chance here in Indiana though.

I got my basic and advanced while I was stationed on Guam in the Navy. Spoiled since then, warm water all year round, 150 foot visibility at 100 foot depth. WWII ship and planes wreck all over and all kinds of equipment that was just dumped in the bays when the war ended. Havn't done any diving since I got back but have been talking about a trip this summer, just undecided as to where yet. Reminds me, need to get all the gear in for a checkup, been cased for a few years now.

I used to dive, before kids and then before golf. I was a PADI Open Water Instructor, and have dived exetensively in South Florida, Bahamas, Mexico and even once in Fiji. For some reason I stopped and never started again. My equipment is antique now and when it comes down to it I would rather play golf. I do miss spear fishing though and the fresh fish it used to provide. I also have Necrosis in my right shoulder so diving probably is not a good idea anymore.
Just an old instructor talking, for all of you that got certified a long time ago and have not dived in a long time, take a refresher course or at least buy a new manual and review as it is easy to forget things like profiling your dives, and surface intervals and some of the basic procedures. Don't rely on your fancy dive computer alone as they do fail, don't ask me how I know. It is amazing and a great way to relax.

Its definitly worth trying especially if you enjoyed the snorkeling. It is so relaxing. Nothing better except for being on th open road on the motorcycle
