HK Not Sampson 8 Months, 3 Weeks ago
When I brought my R* the PO said that the after market pipes were Sampson Warloards
SinceI have been on this Form I have found out that they are Really Hard Krome 3" Straight
I had been looking for quieter baffles for Sampson pipes which there are none, Now that they are HK and their are other baffles available But I can't remove the existing baffles does anyone have a good way to remove the old baffles?? Does anyone know if the different baffles are any quieter?

RodieSL I have the HK K2's, Doe your straight have two hex head bolts on the inside towards the end? Mine have one to hold the tip on, and one to hold the baffle in place.

I had those pipes on my 650 VStar you need to remove the screws then the tips then take a hanger or rod (I used a old screwdriver) and bend a hook in it stick it in and hook into the holes you see on the baffles and PULLLLLL With a little work they will come out. Then you can use baffle packing around the outside and replace them.

Good Luck

I've made several baffle pullers in the past out of different junk I had laying around the shop. The best I found was taking a flat piece of sheet metal and cutting it square and then bending one side in like a hook. Then drilling a hole in it for a piece of allthread to stick thru, then tighten a bolt on each side, stick the plate end into the pipe baffles(may have to tweek the plate or trim) and work them around the groves a few inches till the plate locks on then attatch a pair of vise grips onto the allthread then bump the visegrips with a hammer(not hard just bump). May help to spray some lubricant into the pipe before doing this. I know it's primitive but it works! The hard part to me is lining up the bolt holes putting them back in.

Re:HK Not Sampson 8 Months, 3 Weeks ago
One of mine came out very easy, the other was a pain. I like RoadstarB idea. I was able to use a pair of pliers and hold the tab working back and forth in a circular motion not putting much pressure outward, Not sure if i explained that very well, but as I worked the tab with gentle pulling presure back and forth, and pulling, it finally came out. the same pipe gave me a fit putting it back, must be an alignment thing.
good luck

RodieSL to remove the baffles remove the tips then take the baffle bolts out. Screw the baffle bolts into the baffle mounting braket from the inside of the pipe. Find a box end wrench big enough to go over the head of the bolt and slip it over the bolt. On the other end of the box end wrench grip it in line with a pair of vicegrips. Take a hammer and hammer on the vicegrips in the exit direction to remove the baffles. If you will PM me you regular e-mail address I will send you some info on the baffle I made for my HK's
