#79472 Razor (User) Senior Boarder Posts: 219 Lost Key 8 Months, 2 Weeks ago   Well, I finally lost my "second" key. I wen't to the lake and when I got ready to leave I couldn't find my "only" key anywhere. Not really sure of what to do at this point. Does anyone know of a remedy besides a new ignition and gas cap? I'm not sure, but it's worth a shot. If you bought it new, it should have come with a little tab on the keyring that has the key code on it. The bad part is that I've threatened to get another key on several occasions but never got around to it. Anyway, I just got off the phone with the nearest dealership and the guy seemed to know less than I did. At any rate, when I hung up the phone I didn't know anymore than when I made the call. I don't keep my key on a ring because I don't want it rubbing the gas tank and with a single key I'm surprized that I've gone this long without losing it. I took the key out to keep someone else from making it theirs in the first place so maybe I need to check on some dummy insrance. They lost one of their best guys to the new harley dealership and another transferred to another yamaha dealership. On top of everything else, the only locksmith in town is out of service until May 10th due to surgery "if" everything heals accordingly. A good locksmith can cut one for you , it ain't cheap , but probably cheaper than a new cap and switch. They told me that if you can find out who the original selling dealer was that they may have a record of it. Otherwise see a locksmith or buy new locks!
