loud noisey machines 8 Months, 2 Weeks ago

I have heard everyone talk about how noisey these beast can be. I thought I understood, but tonight, my first real ride of length in warm weather (79) I could really hear it when it warmed up. I swear I could hear every lifter and every valve open and close. But, thanks to having read this board, I didnt worry about it.

Pay close attention to those sounds for a while. That way your ears will hear them, get used to them, but not pay any attention. But when a new noise pops up or even if something sounds different your ears will set off the alarm right away.

I agree with Musky on that Java, mine is loud as hell with the HK 3" and you can still hear every little thing going wrong. I had a rattle in my headlight not to long ago and freaked out at first cause I heard a new noise. Then releived that it was an easy fix..so keep the ears and eyes open and the sticky side down...

My bike has a vibration/rattle that's driving me crazy. Only happens when I'm on a rough patch of road or at certain RPM's. Fifth gear between 60 and 65. Metalic sound like sheet metal vibrating. Coming from up under the front of the bike I think. The only thing I can find up there that might be it is the chrome trim on the front fender. The screws are tight but they're up front and there's some room for vibration at the back of the chrome piece.
Anybody have similar problems or any tips on that sort of noise that might be coming from up under the tank somewhere?

Make sure your passing light bar is not breaking at the welds.

mine was high pitched at certain RPM's, what it was, after much searching, was the TANK MOUNT. it was the horizontal tank bolt which is about 4" long right near the seat. Had to remove it and place nylon washers in between the mating surfaces, quick and easy and totally fixed.. The bolt has a cap nut which allows by design the tank to 'float', so there is movement in there.

Headlight housing for me also. What a pleasure when fixed. Still plenty of chattering though.
