HD lowers 8 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Ok, my HD lowers came in, anyone have pics on how they mounted theirs? I have in mind what I am going to do, but they seem to stick out from the forks quite a bit.

I guess this is how they are supposed to look. Mine will be very close to this.

I will be home in about 3 hrs. I'll take some pics. I have the HD lowers on mine. I did some modifications to it, but I love the look of them and they work perfect. Also, I have the Yamaha big bar engine guard and they clear with about 1/4 of an inch.

HD part#58121-85b. I put them on tonight. The picture I posted shows them mounted in "reverse" the instructions that came with them, but i think they look better. I got mine for $66.00 plus shipping. Had to cut the bracket off and drill two new mounting holes, one in each lower. They look nice, rained tonight so I cant tell you if they helped. BTW, I have the Cobra fatty bars and they miss them by 1/4" also.

Here are some pictures where the top tab has been cut and a new hole drilled.

Slightly different than mine, mine look like those in the pick I posted. wing comes forward. Makes for some vibration but they do what they are supposed too.

I have the same ones Jetmechanic has. I will have to get a new pic, I have added fender tips, passenger floorboards, and an Ultimate Seat with drivers back rest and the lowers since the last pic posted.

Javawave,
Mine make a little vibration noise also. I've heard you can put some thin two sided tape between the lowers and the bracket and it stops the noise. I haven't tried it yet but will soon.

This is basically the same thing that I did. I took some silver paint and painted the ends of the cut portion for protection from rust as well.

When I got my bike out of hibernation, I took it for a ride without the windshield on and there was vibration of the left lower at certain speeds that was not noticeable with the windshield on.
