Pain in the Butt 4 Years ago
Has anyone here expierenced tail bone pressure and pain during rides? If so how did you correct it. I have a mustang seat that is killing my tail bones and the stocker is better but not by much. After short durations the tail bone is sore but much worse when I get off the bike and walk around. It lasts for about 20 min then back to normal. Suggestions please.

I got it big time with the stock seat..after a few miles..my Corbin not..but after more than a few miles yes...

So it is the motorcycle ..and outside of quit riding...the bandaid solutions.. working for some and not for long...its going to be a part of riding the iron horse...

PS Road conditions make a difference too...your going to ram yer tailbone around here in rough pavement but on smooth suburban roads you can go for miles and hours...

Things got a lot better for me when I put floorboard extensions on. Even with the stock seat. I'm more stretched out and not pushing myself back in the seat.

I hear there are some great repolacement seats, like the Ultimate and Pacific Coast.

I use a seat pad, less expensive. Just bought an Ortho-Deluxe ($134 shipped), which has a gap in the back right where the tailbone is. It's medical polymer and memory foam. Prior to that, I had an AirVent pad ($55). Without the pad, I was in horrible pain on the stock seat after about 200 miles.

With the AirVent, I have twice done 647-mile rides in one shot (13 hours) and also several back-to-back 400-500-mile days. I was not comfortable at the end, but without the pad, that would have been impossible. Getting ready to take that same trip with the new Ortho-Deluxe pad, so I'll know more when I get back.

I also heard that Monkey Butt powder helps. Wearing bicycling shorts (padded seat and crotch) seems to help me also on those long, long rides.

I have had it too and I think it's gotta be sitting position.

Before the Corbin I thought of bungee tying my lazy-boy to her.

Do you have hiway pegs to chage the position. And a backrest of course.

I have hiway pegs on the Cobra fatty. It helps but not much. I did not have this issue with my Goldwing which is a more upright position. It seems to be an issue with the seat position. I have also started wearing boxers when riding which actually help things a bit. I think I would look into the air hawk or the ortho pad. Regular gel pads actually make it worse for me.

Re:Pain in the Butt 4 Years ago
I have the corbin and when I start to feel pain I stand up and push against the drivers back rest thus getting my butt just off the seat. I ride that way for about 2 minutes and then sit back down. I do this through out the day if I'm doing a long ride. Just getting my butt off the seat for a short period really helps. And like others my wife and I have done 14 hour days in the seat. Which is coming up again in August for Sturgis.

I've got a mustang seat and put a sheepskin on it. That helps some and going to the chiropracter twice a month
