As we say around here, when it comes to computers if it does what you want leave it alone.
When they force you to upgrade let someone else do it first.
If it works, back-up everything you don't want to loose on a portable or cd's which is good to do all the time anyway.
than update with your fingers crossed.

Well, we're waaaaaay off topic here but speaking as a guy who runs half-a-dozen websites and is semi-Internet savvy I'll just tell you that if you're running Internet Explorer you're . . . well, I'm NOT going to say it. You're just leaving yourself open for more and more problems. I kind of equate it to working for your landlord - we used to call that share cropping in the South. Bottom line is you ain't going nowhere. Microsoft has you by the short hairs and the more of their patch-laden BS you have on your computer the worse it's going to function over the long run. About a year ago I decided to switch to FireFox's web browser (free) with the AdBlock Plus add-on (also free) and haven't looked back. Took a little while to get used to the new platform, but I'm MUCH happier with FireFox than I EVER was with IE.

good case of SVS

Explain what a "good " case of SVS is. I've only heard of the bad kind.

I'd really like to comment, but being a MAC user, I've had no experience at all with the above problems. MS Office works great on a MAC. Just think of what will happen to Yahoo when Gates gets his hands on it.

Just started using Leopard on an Intel based machine. It's been a while (had a Mac back in the 80's) since I used a Mac. Very nice.

One thing I notice, however, is the lack of software ... there is so many more choices available for Windows.

And that's what will keep Windows so popular, is the amount of software build around that platform, no matter how much better the Mac is. If Apple can increase their software offerings, then there'll be some real competition.
