Well Doc I am one of those that uses a PC for finances only and my notebook here in the garage is for forums etc ...nothing here can be useful and I dont trust Microsoft

I'm very hurt by your comment ... for penance you must send beer. 
Na ... you must feel guilty 'cause I didn't pick up anything wrong from this end. 
I still maintain that the laptop, which is connected to the internet, is probably vulnerable if you have the original SP2 without the security updates.

Nope not guilty ....knew you wouldnt you know me well enough by now just didnt want someone doing as I do as far as security goes ....but should we ever end up in he same bar ..Ill buy the first 6 after that you are on your own....Coug |

They are telling us at work to not install the SP3 because it is having issues. I think it already messed up one of the systems at work.

There's a thread on the RSP. Someone looking for help because they installed SP3 and it messed up the computer. I could go to the MS site and get the security updates there but I would have to install their spyware. Genuine advantage. Screw that. Mac huh |

I receive regular updates for SP2 and I don't have 'The Advantage'. There is also an alternate non-MS website (don't have addy at work) where you can go and download all the updates.
Tell him to re-install SP2  ... and a gazillion updates.
