Sorry, but telling the truth is not brand bashing. If I were exaggerating anything it might be, but I'm not. Whoever mentioned seeing all those Harleys trailered to Bike Week is dead on. Despite all the hype - for the most part Harley doesn't have a bike I'd be willing to strike out across country on. My neighbor ATTEMPTED to ride his Harley so Spearfish a couple of years ago. Broke down multiple times coming and going and ended up having to trailer it back to Texas. Sure, Harley Davidson has improved their quality since the seventies. So has Hyundai. I don't plan to buy one of them either.

Yes! In a perfect world a guy needs 3 bikes. One to ride solo, one for Her, and one for the both of us!

Believe me, I'm not sticking up for them. I am well aware of "THE TRUTH". Precicely why I am on my Roadstar. I ride with Harley guys who admit that my bike is far superior in every way, but they have Harley oil running in their veins (and on their garage floor ) and they will always ride one. Go figure.

Can a Harley go the distance? Take a look at the bikes used on Ironbutt.org and you'll see a Lot of Harley's that have made the run. Not sticking up for them , nor am I shopping for one, but this isn't the Shovelhead era for crying out loud , they are Not as bad a Motor company as some here tend to believe.

I love Motorcycles , not brands of motorcycles. Yes, there are guys that think they are better than you because of the "brand" they ride, but that shouldn't be measure by which we judge the bike. I'm just glad to be riding. BB

Heavy I was fine with this thread until you had to go and bash my Hyundai. Now that really hurt!!! I love my Hyundai Sonata!
And then BB has to make matters worse by bashing my old shovelhead.
Why do you guys hate me so much?????

No hate there Bro'. But.....My best friend and Harley rider went from TC88 FL to a 1340 Shovel circa 1983.....And our riding went down hill quickly due to the amount of time we spend keeping that puppy on the road. So I'm speaking from personal experience, not 2nd hand. It was still a cool bike , but the reliability factor was way down back then, that's all I was trying to say. BB

I know BB I'm just ROTFLMAO. I also use my shovelhead to ride locally. Like no more then 70 miles away. I need to make sure that I don't run out of oil when she marks her spot everywhere she goes
But in all seriousness she always starts and runs and has now for 4 years. But I really doubt that I would trust riding her long distance. Of course I can always rent a u-haul to bring her home! Nah I love my R* to much!!!!!!!

Sure, before I bought the roadie, I considered a Road King. It was tempting, until they started talking about financing for 6 years, eeks. I give them this, HDs hold their value. My R* with its near 4K in accessories is worth about 1/3 less than I paid for it new 4 years ago. The hype of the HD name and the stupid prices people pay for genuine HD merchandise and accessories is beyond my understanding but there is a huge market for HDs.

I am considering a touring bike, used, either a Ultra Classic or Gold Wing. Need to test ride them. The venture while cheaper is so outdated, still has a cassette player (or is it an 8-track ) and I don't really care for the buick dash, nor the lines, plus its still carburated. IMHO, Yamaha (sorry, I mean Star Motorcycles) needs to redesign this bike from the ground up.

Would like the R* with the bigger 113 engine. The roadliner and its touring brother are butt ugly to me, but man is that throttle responsive and the bike was surprisingly nimble to me.

Re:Anyone secretly want a Harley? 6 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I've had plenty of Harleys...the reason I went to a R* was because of Harley not wanting to work on a price that we both agreed on for my new Heritage a couple years ago. It was fate... My brother was getting his Ultra classic worked on for the weekend and the dealer gave him a Roadstar to beat on as a loaner. I happened to be at his place and took it for a ride...I was hooked! I liked the look of it at first because it looked like my old heritage's. But I liked the torque it had over my 99 HD. Air cooled, V twin, belt drive, 102 cubes and 8000 dollars less,...no brainer! I like em' all, but its hard to beat that deal. Maybe in the future I'll go back and look at Ultras,... but for now it's the Roadie.
