Helmut war!!!

oh whoops....too quick on the trigger. I wear a beanie (Vega) and only the full face in the winter (which isn't too often in Houston).

actually I ran across this the other day and found it interesting. http://jeff.dean.home.att.net/swisher.htm
(and yes I still prefer my beanie. just attribute that to Darwin's law)

I've got a shorty helmet I wear when I think I'll be doing local slower speeds, but I've also got a modular full face model as well. I'm finding that the modular one is getting used more and more. Especially considering that here in Atlanta there's not all that many places I go that don't require higher speeds (i.e., >40 mph.).

I do feel more protected wearing the full model. It can be a hassle at times though.

I'm in Houston too, so I wear a dumb looking half helmet like that "shorty" Mark7 has pictured above (with sunglasses). I also use the "baseball" visor like it shows in that picture to try to keep from looking like a toadstool, but at high speeds the wind sometimes catches it and tries to strangle me.

I remove the ear covers, so there are just straps in front and back of my ears in a V shape (too keep cool and to hear everything).

The truth is I hate helmets (too hot) and windsheilds (too cop/not cool). But that means 35 mph is the top speed for maximum comfort. Above that you can get used to it, but it makes a 60 mile round trip feel like 18 holes of golf in 95 degrees.
