Have a few questions for the Philippines 5 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Hi all, actually I have a few houses in the PI and have fallen love with the Roadie. A BIG bike there is a 150 or 250. The police bikes are dressed 250's. hahaha..yeah I know. Anyway, I have been sending emails to Yamaha companies there and they dont have any answers. But I do want to get a new one or a used one there. I have seen HD there and Ducati also. From time to time a 750 or 800, but never a 1600 or 1700 Roadie or Warrier. Any ideas if there is a chance of getting one there? I havent been in the PI for almost a year now, I have been in Iraq and in Texas. Anyone know if they are available there?

I did a little browsing and this page has a list of all Yamaha dealers in the Philippines... http://www.yamaha-motor.com.ph/dealers.html

From what I saw, the only cycles that Yamaha officially sells there are about 5-6 scooters.
Looks like you may have to buy one elsewhere and import it.

Actually, in Dec 06 I came back to Texas for vacation from Iraq and I had ordered a new Dyna HD. I

was going to pick it up and have it sent to the PI and get my driver there to pick it up for me and

take it home. The Dyna cost me $12,307, a HD in the PI is very hot for the girls...lol. Anyway, I had

my wife ask how much the import taxes was for it. This isnt shipping or anything, the TAXES for it

was $16,000 to take it off the ship and set it on the dock. Thats the honest truth, guess who didnt

get a Dyna in the PI...hahah. There is a Ducati dealership there and they dont have to pay such giant

import taxes, I dont know why. So having something shiped into there from HERE is not cost effective.

There are places there where ya can buy a new 3 or 4 year old cheap Dyna for $26,000. My wife has

gpne there and looked for me. Nice bikes but WAY to expencive. There are HD there that has been

rebuilt Philipino style, bailing wire and one screw driver and a pair of pliers, but they have been

worked on so many times they are crap now. Unless you spend the $26,000. So ya see why I have to get

a Roadie and have a big bike that way. I will just keep looking I guess. With taxes like this, no

there is no wonder why the PI is having so many problems with their government. THANKS

Not sure how ethical this would be, but could you take the bike apart in the states and then send in the pieces in different shipments.. ?

I have talked to people there in the PI that has HD for sale that has been taken apart and shiped there in peices. Most of them are in the northern part of Luzon the big island. Those bikes cant be registered in the PI. There is no record of them being taxed. So if your stoped by the tiny 250 law dogs there they will just take your HD and smile. My wife was stoped a few years ago for not wearing a helmet, they charged her $100 right there. If she didnt have it then, they would have taken her bike. She said there was maybe 100 bikes setting there then that those 3 cops were just going to sell and pocket the cash. Corruption is in your face there, here it is not so blatent, but its here.
