There are forces at work 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago
These forces are beyond our understanding
I went down to the S&S Ranch yesterday morning. It's thier 50th year celebration, and you can go on a tour of the facilities. Awesome tour so much neat stuff your head would spin, saw R&D department, back to racing history.
finally decide to leave and good old reliable "Everlovin" my Roadie has nothing, no power, dead. No spark even at the Battery terminals, no blown fuses. So some guys get to push me down the hill, she fires, and I run the 40mi back home.
The final analysis is in and the battery died, something sapped all it's power and after 7 years and 46,000mi it suddenly failed at S&S.
coincidence
you decide for yourself but I know what I think.

Had a problem like that when I went to buy my Roadie. Pulled into the dealer in my truck and the radiator took a dump. It was like "A NEW RIDE? TAKE THIS YOU @^%$(*!". Weird.

Your battery lasted 7 years? It just plain lost its spark.

My battery died last week at the lynchburg rally Started fine 5 different times on the way up, then was completely dead when we got ready to leave couldn't even get a simple spark with 2 wrenchs across the terminals, luckily we was with a group and one of them went and picked me up a new one

Yes, that battery sure didn't owe me anything.
Just the timing, one of the last things I was looking at were the Pro-Stock Drag racing parts and trophies.
Probably running right along side a Patrick Racing Yamaha

I'm still on the original battery - 2 years and 26,000 miles and counting. Better think about putting a new one in anyway before I head off on the next long trip at the end of summer. You guys are scaring me.

I bought my bike at 4 years old and replaced the battery 6 months later. The bike was purchased in January 03 in 4 1/2 years it went through 5 winters but here in Florida never saw less than 40 degrees in that time.

I'm thinking my battery might be holding up better because I ride year round, no need to trickle charge it. Never goes more than two days without firing up.

...or I could just be really lucky.
