Anyone got any tips on how to remove the stock bushings? I have the risers out, the Baron's good n tite nylon bushings in hand....and I'm stumped.

I have never known anyone who removed them Judi. Most leave them in, even when sending the trees off to be chromed.

Keep checking in here for a while and lets see if someone chimes in who has done it.

Hey Judi,

Those bushings have to be pressed out with a hydraulic press and then Baron's *may* have to be pressed in -- what do the Baron's directions say? I've had a couple of sets of rises on my Roadie, currently Aeromach risers (but I like the Baron's best -- got them on wife's V-Star) and have never had to remove the bushings.

Got to agree with Gram though, most everyone leaves them in even when chroming or powder coating.

Well, it's done. Here's how:

First, throw out the directions that Baron's sent you. They are useless. : )

Next, find a socket that is the same size as the bushing. Put it on an arbor press and push hard! It is really tough at first, but then they will slide right out. There was a little corrosion on them, that made it a little harder to push them out. Clean out the opening with some Scotch brite, add a dab of lithium grease, and put the new ones back in place by hand. You can get them to slide in with just a tap of the hammer. They look great, better than stock, and when the four feet of snow out there melts, I'll post a review of how they perform.

One tip: remember to wrap the casting in some rags before you put it on the press so you don't scratch the chrome.
