#471581 polishdog (User) Platinum Boarder Posts: 1088 No internet access on Sony VAIO laptop 1 Year, 2 Months ago   I have a W7 64bit notebook, it gets a wireless connection, signal strength excellent, however, no internet connection. I went through all the settings I could think of, still nothing. The laptop works with a wired connection, it just doesn't get internet with wireless. Try that. Do you have the icon in the tray down on the right? If so right click it and enable it.   Logged     The administrator has disabled public write access. #471618 rballew (User) Senior Boarder Posts: 362 Re:No internet access on Sony VAIO laptop 1 Year, 2 Months ago   check the wifi network adapter properties. if it is indeed connected to the web. you will see a duration period. what browser are you using. if IE go to tools, internet options, advanced. look near the bottom. click reset button beside reset IE settings. if that doesn't work click on start button, in the search field type cmd. a DOS prompt will appear. now type ipconfig. this will determine if you laptop is obtaiing a private ip address from the router. should start with 192.168.-.-. , the subnet mask should be 255.255.255.0, you should have a defualt gateway as well. it should also be 192.168.-.-if the laptop is communicating with router.but, does not obtain a ip address or default gateway. you will not be able to pull a web page up.   Logged     Last Edit: 2012/03/23 22:15 By rballew.     The administrator has disabled public write access. #471623 TampaSVT (User) Life is hard. It might give you an idea of whats happening. Can you see your wireless router's SSID? Can you verify that your wireless adapter is turned on. I also have a few VAIOs and you can turn it off/on via the SmartWi Connection Utility.
