My son was reading at a 6th grade level in 2nd grade, unfortunately he didn't comprehend what he was reading, meaning he could properly pronounce all the words and read it but, if you asked him what it meant he didn't know.
I don't know how your school system is but, here in CA there are a ton of programs to help kids with Autism but, the school officials won't tell you about them and sometimes even tell you they are not available. I hired a Child Advocate and brought them to our school meeting and was amazed at how much their attitude changed and how many things we were able to get for our son to help him. Now we help other parents get the same things for their kids. (the school hates us
Just do your homework and don't accept what they tell you. My son would not be where he is today without the help he got starting in kindergarden.
