Keep this thing up. Later, I'll relate how cousin Greg tried to emulate Evel Knievel after we watched a successful jump om ABC's Wide World of Sports!

60's were even better I don't know how the hell we lived We used to break up into two "armies" and one side would build a fort and the other side would have to find it and then DESTROY it with the builders trying to defend it.

Our parents put a stop to it after the second or third hospital visit

Or when some kids brought their hard plastic GI Joes and beat the other side with them.

Pea shooters, slingshots and hornets nests, ahhh yes, the good old days

We used to play army by diving into two teams and shot each other with BB guns. And we used to build bicycle ramps using old tires and plywood then line the neighborhood kids up on the ground and try to jump over them. My record was 7.

I grew up in the 70's in Eastern Kentucky. You could not graduate 8th grade without at least 4 bonafide BB gun fights under your belt. It just didn't happen!

You also had to have at least one black cat go off in your hand, and have ran SOMETHING completely through a hand or foot! Both my brothers, big nail thru the foot. Me, dried corn stalk ran thru the left palm and out the back of the hand, DURING a BB gun fight! Destined for greatness, I was!

Re:The 70s 11 Months, 1 Week ago
I remember dirt bombs, making bows and arrows out of tree branches, sneaking into the woods with a pack of matches and lighting fires. I was kicked out of the house at sunrise and told not to be back until it was dark. Food was set out on picnic table and I'd breeze by and grab it and run.

But we also didn't have all these developments, so there's no place to run and hide and blow crap up anymore without being on someone's property. Our favorite sledding hill in a huge field, that became a development over the course of 3 years. One day we were sledding and a guy came out of the house and said "you can't sled here, this is my house". I hate urbanization.
