I smoke. However I have a smoke-free home. I don't smoke around others or when others are in the car. I just "disappear" for 5-10min. However I don't smoke very much, a pack lasts me 3-4 days. I just go for it when I feel the urge, typically when i wake, on the way to work, lunch, on the way home, and 1-2 in the evening. However it seems when I'm working in the yard, I tend to do it a bit more.

Well I'm still working at it. Smoked for 40 years and then put them down. It's been 3 months today since I've had one. Hadn't smoked in the house or car in 10 years.

Re:sometimes i wish i could just punch someone 1 Year ago
I quit the week my son was born 8 years ago. Diapers cost more than cigarettes for a day's worth back then, and I did not want my children to ever see me smoke. I probably would not have taken it up, but when I was growing up EVERYBODY smoked, so, ya just kinda figure that's what you do when you grow up. Wish I had 17 years worth of cigarette money saved up!

I don't think there is a worse environment this side of a gas chamber than the inside of a '74 Monte Carlo in a thunderstorm with both of your parents yelling at each other and chain smoking Salems!

As far as the woman being ignorant, let's not insult ignorance. Nobody is ignorant to the effects of smoking. Lots of lawyers shared over 660 Million dollars making sure that everyone knows.

My dad told me, at a time when I was an "ignorant Savant"

"Son, there's no shame in ignorance. Embarassment, but not shame. Ignorance can be cured, stupidity is permanent!" He was telling my that I could learn from my mistakes, and prove I was just ignorant, or continue to make them, knowing the outcome, and just be stupid. I love my dad.

Mom (1984) and dad (1994) both quit eventually.

Congrats to all on quitting, and good luck to those who still try.

I was a two-pack-a-day smoker (more on weekends if I was out and about) until April 12, 1986. Woke up and got ready to light up. Saw three cigs left in the pack and decided (after three previous attempts) to just quit cold turkey. Threw that pack in the trash and never looked back.

After 26 years of smoke-free living, I don't miss it.

X-rays every five years show clear lungs. It's one of the best things I ever did for myself and those around me.

I keep saying I'm going to quit, always find a reason/excuse/BS not to man up and end smoking. The part that kills me is that I started smoking to cover the smell of pot. Haven't smoked grass in 25 years, still have this filthy habit. Maybe I should go back to "growing and rolling" my own. At least I'll know whats in those left handed cigs...
