Work.
I'm one of those lucky Federal workers whose jobs are classed as "essential". When everyone else gets off or is sent home, I have to show up or else stay because no one else is coming in.

Riding the RS over to Florida's other coast and watching the fireworks on the bay with my wife's family. Actually hope to be leaving in about an hour or two.

Re:4th of July 10 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Well, normally I'd take a ride out to town, join the parade of bikes, which is an all comers deal, and do the traditional small town 4th of July Parade here in Waxahachie. It is officially the Crape Myrtle Festival, but it's the 4th of July parade to everyone. Was going to take my son with my to ride in the parade instead of wathcing this year. The big H.E.B. sponsored fireworks show was last night, the family has not talked to me this morning to let me know how it was. Would normally get up and swim, BBQ later, and try not to set my 3.5 acre "estate" on fire tonight!

But this year ain't normal

Instead, I'm changing the radiator in my truck, and will probably end up having a little Buffalo Trace with one of my contemporaries (and a former boss! Small world) and might take one of his canoes out on the little Anderskoggin River in front of his house for a little while. Can't go too far. Mill dams upstream and downstream, but you don't have to listen to anyone, it just you.

Rather be with my woman and child though. And my bikes!

Enjoying a day off.. was going to take my 3 y/o to his first fireworks, but he's been pretty sick the past few days, and i don't think he would last that long, so may just stay home with the wife. was hoping to have got my mini apes so i could have installed them today, but no dice...

I'm gonna sit back and relax with a BBQ and a few cold ones, and remember why we celebrate today.

Happy 4th everyone.

And to those of you north of the border, have a great day too!
