Excitement at the border 1 Year, 3 Months ago
Due to the high cost of shipping to Canada, I have my parts shipped to a town just across the Canada/US boarder, Ogdensburg, NY. For Mother's Day we did a run across the border to pick up a load of parts I had shipped there.

We picked up the parts, shopped, gassed up, had a Mother's Day afternoon meal and headed back. At the Canadian border crossing there's only an SUV at the customs booth and it is just pulling away as we drive up. As I drive up to the booth and all hell breaks loose ... the sirens go off and the guards jump out of the booth. I figure ... ", how do they know I got drugs???" ... but they start running after the SUV ... about 5 of them .... 3 give up after 100 feet , another gives up after 200 feet ... the last guy catches up to the SUV when it stops and sits at a stop sign about 300 feet away. I guess the driver was all confused about which way to go as the SUV was in the wrong exit lane.

About now I'm passing the SUV as it's coming back towards me with the agent walking beside it. It's a Chinese woman ... guess she declared something and then drove away instead of stopping at the customs building.

As we drove away we were joking that in Canada the agents run after the cars ... in the US the agents would deploy the heat seeking missiles.

Hmmm .... maybe that's why the US entry was so easy this time ... he barely opened the door to his booth and didn't ask me to roll down the back window.

I would think that there would be less repeat offenders on the US side using this method.

They always ask me if I'm bringing anything back

I always tell them I have mexicans in the back, they always laugh and tell me to go through

I usually wait a mile or two before I let em out of the trunk for air
