Those factory tires didn't last 7,000 miles before turning into 'maypops'

Don't expect much more from the ME880. I love the tire and will buy another one this spring but my rear has almost no tread after 10k miles.

Front's real good and can probably go another 10k.

That was a fun burnout....I started out with a brake stand for a few seconds, shifted her in 2nd real quick and let go.....I let off the gas after a 20' long strip and she was still smoking the tire. yeah I was considering a Royal star at one time, but since my bike will be paid off this spring, and after riding a royal star, I just cant get rid of my "little" torque monster...lol And you are right, Doc....it isn't hard at all to break that tire loose. On a good day, I can be in 1st gear doing about 10-15mph, crack the throttle without dumping the clutch and bounce the front tire off the ground about 1 or 2 inches....I did that once with my buddy on my right side, and he said I about blew out his ear drums....lol I thought that was kinda funny.

Hi Alan,

Did you make it to the monthly meeting last night. We didn't as my uncle dies last night just before the meeting and I was trying to reschedule my Saturday flight to the UK to today with no luck.

Regarding the ME880 Marathon tires, I bought them from DONELSON CYCLES Inc, 9851 St Charles Rock Road, St Ann, Missouri 63074. Their phone number is 1 800 325 4144, regular number 314 427 5523, fax 314 427 7642. They list whitewalls for your bike as follows; front 130/90H16 WWW $104.95 rear 150/80HB16 WWW $124.95 Shipping was around $10 per tire I think and they arrived within 3 days of ordering. I had looked at various places and this was the best I could find, however I fitted regular blackwalls to mine which were as supplied on the bike new and they are a little cheaper.

Hope to see you at Sonic thursday night otherwise in two weeks, as I am off to the UK for 5 days on Saturday.

Regards,

Dave

WOW! Great tip! About $25 less than my place. I'll be sure to pass it along. Thanx!

The ME880 was recommended to me last year, am on the second rear due to nail in the tire. The factory Bridgestones really wore poorly. Ride 2 up & loaded a lot close to max gvwr. Getting about 8K on the rear but more than 12K on the fronts before they start to cup like the Bridgers did. May try the 160 on the rear next change, but all in all they ride & handle great.
