2006 advice? 2 Years, 2 Months ago
Hey fellow riders..
I'm looking at upgrading from a 2000MM to an 06 Midnight. Can anyone tell me if there are anythings to be aware of on the 06 models if there are any problems?? Is the difference in the bikes just the engine size?
Thanks
2000 Roadie

I love my 2006 Roady. I have had no problems with mine. There was / is a transmission recall. You might have a dealer check your VIN to see if it has been done.

No problems with he 06. The 06 has better brakes than the 00. In 06 they changed the valves to supposedly help prevent SVS.

An issue I see is the economy in selling a bike, unless ya give it away. an if for trade in at dealer, if they are not selling, I wouldn't be surprised if they low ball on value. I just spoke to my dealer yesterday, sales are down 80%, and keep in mind, we are an all yr riding state. And for the few differences between the bikes, you can always do an up grade to charge system, you can even do a up grade to the brakes, even better to what comes on the 06 models. Think from one of the Yamaha sport bikes (think it is the R1, certain yrs) is a direct swap to 4 or 6 piston front brake. and you can also swap out the front pulley as well. see, I just saved ya 5k. lol Now you can buy that 1k digital camera so you can take great pics of the 1 month vacation on the road. lol

I have a 2006 1700 Road Star and love it! I do not believe the recall applied to 06 1700 models but others will chime if I am wrong.

I see I just repeated earlier post on the recall.................

I have an 06 and love it, but would have to ask why upgrade? You get a slightly larger engine, better brakes, and 6 years less age??? It would have to be more for me to make the move, but you are the one with the finger on the trigger.

I swear my '06 was made just for me! I have had zero problems, and it just seems to run better and better all the time. They're gonna have to bury my bike and me together when I go!

Still up in the air about the purchase, going to look at it tomorrow. It's a chance to get a killer deal on a bike that is 6 years newer..an 06 Midnight with 3500 miles and pretty well decked out for well under 6K....just might do it.
