This thread discusses the Content article: Simple

Great, but if I subtract 8/10 th of 2.1 quarts that is 1 7/10 th of a quart of old oil left in the engine. I plan to change to Amsoil synthetic so how can I get the rest of the old oil out.

What the article means is that for a 'regular' oil and filter change you should add a total of 4.3 quarts.

About 1 quart of oil does stay in the engine as there are numerous nooks and crannies and the oil 'sticks' to everything. Don't expect to get it all.

You don't need to get all the oil out and I doubt that you could ..... unless you take the engine apart.
