I haven't been around in a while.
First off, I'd like to say thanks to Dysan for his idea and great thread on making a custom set of lexan lowers.
A while back, I built a set of polished aluminum lowers (posted pics, etc). Well, in the end, they did function, but not as well as I liked. When I saw Dysan's thread, I decided to try my hand at building a set of lexan lowers. Dysan, I actually even took your idea and tried all of the local glass shops and found one that gave me enough lexan to build the set, no charge! Great idea!!
I changed the plans just a little and used some mounting hardware from a Memphis Shades windshield from one of my previous bikes.
They work great and look like a professional installation. I really appreciate the ideas and instructions Dysan. I will post a pic of how mine turned out.
Now, for my problem:
A while back, my bike started sputtering and backfiring in the morning when I get about 3 minutes from the house after I get on the freeway. It runs like this for about 2 miles, then starts to smooth out and runs fine. Since then, I took the bike into the best shop in San Diego and had it re re-jetted and dyno
'ed. I have V&H
Longshots and the bike was jetted before I bought it. I had a feeling it was running rich and it was.
The bike definetly ran better and smoother, but the next morning....same thing.
I tightened up the exhaust pipes last night. They weren't too loose, the nuts turned maybe 3/4 to 1 turn??
I am going to remove the breather and do the Seafoam in the carb
While researching posts on this problem, I kept seeing threads about removing the AIS
. I noticed the shop pulled a "L" shaped hose (about 1/2" OD
and 6"-8" long) and put a plug in the end located in front of the front cylinder, but that is all. Everything else is still connected. The tech articles cover 99-03 & 04, but nothing for AIS on 07. Is there something else I should do on my 07 with regards to the AIS?
Also, I would like to verify if I have any vacuum leaks. One of the threads says to spray water with the bike running. When I do this, what am I looking for? What is supposed to happen if I have a vacuum leak?
Any info on this problem would be greatly appreciated.
