Re:Change Float Bowl Needle Valve 6 Years, 5 Months ago
I can dig it So is the carb on the bike and the bike on the kickstand reading the float level? I'll also dabble in chapter 6.

I hope not to be back asking questions on this thread again. I've waited long enough for the mud to settle LOL...

D,

PLEASE, ask all the questions you want ! ! You're not bothering anyone on trying to give/get, an answer. REALLY! !

The bike needs to 'sit' as totally 'level' as possible to get a good reading, (with the carb on the bike). Level is good , , , leaning is bad, (when checking the float level).

Please don't ever think that your questions are bothersome. The questions you ask, 'maybe', the questions others 'wished' they asked, .

Re:Change Float Bowl Needle Valve 4 Years ago
Ok,
I know this is an old topic for some, but.....
I installed the 2.5 float needle assembly.
Set the float level between 1mm-2mm "read at the back side of the float bowl"
Took out the inline screen.
Shortened the fuel line so it has a nice straight shot to the carb.
AND.....
She starves for fuel at high cruise.
Any ideas?

Oh ya.. she's a 2003 Midnight Star

You need to set the float level a bit higher.

Route the fuel line under not over the backbone.

Thanks Doc,
ya the fuel line is under the backbone going right between the cylinders.
I will raise the float level. Should I go flush with the mounting surface or higher?

A little dab will do ya.

I don't know how much you will need. I know it's a pain but go 2 mm at a time.

It was running good with the fuel pump ... right.

Yes ... make sure you are adequately vented first.

I have not done anything to the gas cap.
I thought the tank was already vented.....
I guess I should never assume.
I know I saw a post somewhere on venting the cap.
I'll look for it.
Thanks

YA,
with the pump she ran good.
Matter of fact, I put the pump back on just to see if it would still cut out, and
it ran fine.
