The small area where it meets the pipe. The outer diameter is not attatched. When you cut the area where it touches the pipe it will come out. When you look in there with a flashlight, you can see the weld.

well i got the pic inserted, i was trying to use a dremel tool on it earlier on the outside part but i didnt have the right cutting tool. mine seems to be attachted on the outside also.

Cut the inside first at the weld. It not attached at the outside. I have the same bike i believe. an 06R*

Are you working on a R#. I have a friend that rides a vstar and his pipe is welded all the way around the outside of cone. I ride a 06 R# and 3staged my stockies.It was easy.I thought it sounded good but it got boring.

Hello, Mine is a 03 roadstar, it looks like mine is welded all the way around the outside of the cone too. what do i do about that part?

It looks like it but it isn't, once you break the weld on the inside it'll pop right out.

what do you think is the best way to break the weld? i dont have a metal hole saw. i have a wood hole saw kit.
