Hi fellows,
I have been cosidering this mod, as here in South Africa, 4-way flashers are used as the common signal to thank other motorists for road courtesy. Sometimes it's difficult in traffic to give a manual courtesy salute.

My question - has anyone tried to use the kill-switch to operate 4-ways?

I do understand that it may not be politically correct, and that you lose that function.

Regards,

Pegleg

Why not add another swith under the controls to serve as your flasher control?

jemorrisonjr, You might have. I spent like $9 on a heavy duty flasher that lasted about 3 tries. Bought the cheapo one at Wal-Mart for less than $2, and it's still kicking fine. Flashers are delicate little critters, it would seem.

Figured thats what is was, going to stop on the way home and get a new one.

Install was easy but I think the cold just got to me and since I wont be riding until the salt is off the road I'm not really in a hurry, but I hate unfinished projects

Not sure if it will help anyone, but I previously posted some photos from when I did my flashers and 12-volt receptacle. I tried to post a link back to that original thread with pics, but I did something wrong, so just search on "flasher wiring," and that thread should be at the top.

Just out of curiosity - why do think four way flashers are not standard equipment on all road bikes? I can't imagine it would add an appreciable cost to the bike.

BTW, my plan is to just add some stobes, just haven't found what I'm looking for yet.

I'm not sure. I do know this, though. I don't think I ever would have made it to the top of Mount Washington in 15-foot visibility if it hadn't been for two bikes in our group having 4-ways and them being directly in front of me. I just followed the lights and maintained their pace.

Decided I would finally add them to my bike on the way up.
