Anyone done this on a 08 yet? If so did you have to reprogram the bike?
Nobody makes pipes for the 08 and I def want louder exhaust I cant hear the bike at all when riding it.

I'll give ya guess, but that's all it is,, the EFI will probably sense what is in the exhaust, and compensate for it, If you free up the intake, the sensors in the exhaust will read the increased unburned gas and lean out the injectors.. so free up the exhaust and maybe they will leave things alone...That's why I like a good carb...

FactoryPhoto,
I have the 08 RS 1700, Removed outer cone and drilled inner plate. Had it in for first service at 1200 miles (did mod somewhere before 600 miles) And dealer said plugs looked good, No ill effects at that stage any way. leaning towards stage three. If you beat me there let me know how it goes.
I have eight 1/2" holes in second plate now.

I have contacted Hackerpipes and they replied saying that they will put oxygen sensor ports in any of their Roadstar pipes if you order them that way. They also make custom pipes to your order.

Did the stage 1 on the 12th of Aug. Love the sound, but am not sure if it makes me use more fuel or not. Will monitor and let you know. Otherwise, great idea, whoever thought to do this first.

Re:Drill the Stock Exhaust (stage 1, 2, 3) 3 Years, 9 Months ago
Before I put on the HK 3 inch staggereds and all the experimenting to get the sound right, I was running the stockers with the stage three mod. Eight half inch holes per pipe and loved the sound. In fact I thought the sound was better than anything I can get out of the after market pipes. Many here have expounded on the sound of the stage three mod but when studying the drawings, the only difference between one and three is the pipe and drilled baffle removed completely. Wouldn't just removing more of the baffle bring a stage one closer without removing the pipe? Someone went farther than just drilling the baffle and even cut all but four "spokes" left to hold the pipe. I have heard only one set of stage three pipes and don't think it sounded that much different from my stage one. Sorry for being so long winded on a dead horse subject.

Thanks to each contributor for your input. I used a Dremel to cut the cone from the pipe. This left the part of the cone that was welded onto the pipe, but allow the rest of the cone to be removed. This provided the access needed to drill 8 holes. A little black spray paint afterwards and it looks and sounds great. Thanks again.

Hey factory photo,

Where your original 08 pipes flat in the back?, alot like the raider and not like the old cones?

If so, did you drill through the back plate?
