I don't like the HJC that came with my bike and don't really like the fit of the Z1R. My wife likes her Z1R though. In the end you really need to try them all on to see what feels best to you. I've had this one for about 2 years. I had an off brand half helmet that came with a previous bike. The HJC was a great improvement. Only problem I have is pressure on my forehead after 1-2 hours of riding. Had this with the last one, just sooner. I'm just way old school, still have a belt buckle from the early 70's saying "let those who ride decide". by the by, if you do a search its interesting as to what is really legal. COme to find out (as I understand it) a DOT approved helmet receives no testing, its just approved by them. Look for the Snell approval for a real helmet. And like they said for many years, "got a 10 buck head buy a 10 buck helmet". Yes, it's hot in the summer. So is the thick leather jacket I wear every time I ride. And the leather gloves and boots. If it's going to be in the 90+ degree range I try to ride either early or late.
