It does not need to be down the middle. You're OK unless it really rubbing against one side of the pulley .... and then you'd 'hear' about it.

If you want it down the middle ..... the belt will ride on the low side of the pulley so if it's on the outside you need to tighten the left side axle adjuster. Probably 1/8 of a turn should do it.

I agree,i`m fixin to hit 8000 miles and will be adjusting my belt for the second
time.I asked if this was normal and they said yes if you do alot of 2-up riding!

I made an adjustment it is off the pully edge now the belt is glazed from where it was rubbing. My bike has 2k on in 40 days, there was no sound being made because of the rub . In my mind it was rubbing,so there was unnecessary heat being created whereas over time undue stretching of the belt would occur. So I feel better and that is that.... ....Coug

hey dave:

to the japs, size wise, they probily consider one of us riding two up.

i know im 255 pounds my self, not including the o-lady, she's always is on my back.

That`s too funny Dozer,I lived there in 73,74,75 on the USS midway,ya had to
buy like triple xxx`s to get the size right

Cool Dave, I was in Yokosuka the same time as you only I was on one of those old Tin Cans (DD-786) that used to chase you all around.

Hey jwitt!! Did you spend the 3 months out on the water during the
final evac of Nam back then.You must have been about the same as me
18 or 19.Young Dumb and fulla @#$%.Did like the stops in PI and Korea tho.
I don`t even pretend to drink like that anymore
