roadstar vs roadliner 4 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I just found out today that my insurance company is going to total out my bike that i wrecked last fall. This is after they put over $6500 in it to repair it, but they missed a broken fork stop that i recently found. So now I am looking to replace my 06 midnight roadstar that I had decked with the silverado options. I have found two left over 07 midnight silverados at dealers in my area that are going for a decent price. But when I called another yami dealer he was out of road*'s but had a few 07 roadliners and stratoliners that he bought at an auction direct from the Yamaha factory and I can get one of these for not a whole lot more than the road*. What I'm wanting to know is has anybody here moved from the roadstar to the roadliner and what do you think of the difference between the two? I didn't really care for the styling of the roadliner at first, but after looking at a few it kinda grows on you. I'm wanting to go with fuel injection this time and can actually get into one of these cheaper than the 08 roadstars.

What to do-what to do............

The performance of the Roadliner is something I could live with....

But as much as I look at it... over and over...

I think the design team at Yamaha.... were high on Sushi...

Well , I must say.........I love my Liner. But I miss my Roadie as well. The Liner is bigger , but is a few pounds lighter. Power is really good right out of the box. FI is wonderful.

Downs sides........Back tire is gonna be expensive (although I have 5,000 miles on mine and it still looks great ) The aftermarket is lean for these bikes , probably 10 to 1 RoadStar to Roadliner. If you like to tinker...........

3 years ago , I did not care for these bikes. When I saw one in person , I felt different. I really like the look , and I find I'm not the only one when I'm out in public , people want to talk.

If you want to hear that single pin thump ....... avoid FI. Although it is a single pin motor , it , like the Raider and even the Warrior do not have the sweet song of a Carburated Roadie.......I miss that.

There is a few random (honest) thoughts about pro's vs. con's of the Roadliner , but , the bottom line is I love mine! BB

I've thought about this same questions, especially with it being my first bike. I found a dealer who had Liners on sale for like $10k, so its obvious from that notion that they're not as popular at the Roadie.. the cost savings was tempting, but after discussing it with myself, I have to be able to mod and work on my own stuff and the lack of aftermarket for the Liner looks about the same as the 08 Road* at the moment. Only difference being that the FI Roadies will gain aftermarket and the Liners will probably not.

It really all comes down to what you want to do with the bike.

I've had FI scoots and carb'd scoots. Like the others here, I like the feeling and the sound of the carb'd.

There's a guy here in town who has a 06 strat for sale it's the S-model.
I rode it right before I bought my Roadstar. I weight in at 190.lbs and the bike acted as if I were not even on it LOT'S OF POWER!!

I almost bought the stratoliner, then I heard the roadstar's engine at a local shop with a set of longshots afterwards the roadstar was all I could think about until I went out and got mine.

I could see myself with a stratoliner but I would want to keep my roady to.
