MSF Box 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I don't have the dimensions of the MSF U-Turn Box handy, and was wondering if anyone knows off hand what the dimensions are...also, how hard is it to get the R* to work within those dimensions (I would think the full size box would be fine, but am wondering about the narrower version that ends up on the msf course skill test at the end of the class)...I can get mine around fairly easily on normal 2 lane street, but I'm wondering if I should be able to get it even tigher; what are your observations?

The MSF U-turn box has two dimensions, 24ft and 20ft. The former is the minimum width of most roadways and the latter provides a goal to increase skill. The 20ft width is used in the skill test.

Here's a link to the MSF course diagram

Getting the Road Star through the course isn't all that hard. I actually found it easier doing it on my Road Star than when I took the Beginner Course on the Honda Rebel.

Just practice a bit and you'll get it.

I measured the course at the local motorvehicle dept lot where they give the test for the license endorsment. The U turn box is 18 and 20 ft. I don't know what the magic number is but a specified cc and smaller engine bike must the 18 space and a larger engine bike can use the 20.
The zig zag course is cones 12 ft apart alternating on two lines 2 1/2 ft apart, you have to be on the right of the right hand cones and to the left of the left hand cones. They have two L shaped lines 5 1/2 ft apart at the entrance and 6 ft apart at the exit. You have to make a sharp left hand turn without the front wheel touching either line.
During the test you are allowed to touch the ground with a foot three times; a fourth foot touch fails.
