Exhausting time. 1 Week ago
Well, after riding with this loud noise coming out of my pipes, I tried to find an original exhaust system for my '03. I almost got one but the internet here conspired to prevent me from getting it. But it happens so no worries. I looked on Cobras site to see if there were any other options for a quieter baffle and there is but on a limited income, it would be tight. So, break out the hacksaw, Dremel, and the mig welder. Since I already didn't like the baffles in the pipes now, I decided to try and make them into the quiet core type baffles. Long story short, it worked!! Now all I have to do is hope I welded them good enough!! LOL A Harbor Freight welder and me with very limited welding skills.

Of course, you did document this procedure for all to witness, but I don't see any pics.

i watched a guy on you tube wrap the baffles with fiberglass pipe insulation to make quiet baffles.
seemed the same thing as the quiet baffles i put on my sportster.i tried it and it does seem quieter.
he recommends regular muffler material since the fiberglass burns out.

No unfortunately I forgot that step. But if you go to the Cobra site and look at the baffles, the ones that were in the pipes were straight through with louvers in the middle section about 9 inches long. So I cut it up and reassembled the pieces into the way the quiet baffles are made. I welded up the end, and put a washer in the center section with the hole welded up. Sounds strange but it seems to work.
